This disease isn’t relegated to a specific group of people. My story is especially important because I’ve been told more times than I can count, “Wow. You don’t look like an alcoholic.” I have shared my story of relapsing so many times and being in such pain but I’ve never given up. I’ve learned that in order to keep sober you also need to put your hand out and think of others, something that I never did. I always just thought of myself, and I came to realize to be successful in recovery you have to help others, think of others, and not always yourself.
